Egg Donation IVF Process: Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Initial Consultation and Document Preparation

📌Document Preparation

Egg donation treatment in Taiwan requires full government approval. Please prepare the following documents before traveling:

Step 2: Onsite Consultation and Medical Evaluation

★ Please bring the following items to the clinic:

① Original identification for both spouses: passport plus one additional ID (Identification card from the nation of origin).

② Original copy of your marriage certificate that has been authenticated by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) within the last 3 months.

★ During the initial consultation (first visit), the following will be conducted:

Blood test and health assessment for both spouses.
Medical consultation (treatment plan, discussion of PGT-A, implantation, number of embryos transferred, etc.)
Completion of various consent forms and submission of all required documents.
For husband: semen collection, semen analysis, sperm freezing.
For wife: ultrasound examination, HSC-hysteroscopy (optional), HSG-hysterosalpingography (optional).
Prescription and explanation of medications.
Notarization at a public notary's office.

※The entire first-day process will likely take at least half a day, so please keep your schedule open from morning until afternoon. After everything is completed, you may fly back to your country of origin the next day while waiting for the matching.

Step 3: Donor Matching and Government Review

Once a donor is selected, please make the payment for the donor fee via international transfer within one week.

Once the payment is completed, NUWA will submit all required documents—such as the certificates, consent forms, and notarized papers you prepared during your initial visit—to the government for the matching review.

The process takes approximately 2–3 weeks. NUWA will handle the entire application on your behalf.

Step 4: IVF and PGT-A (PGS)

After the matching review application is approved by the government, our lab team will begin the IVF process (Insemination and embryo culture).

The donor eggs and the husband’s sperm will be thawed, fertilized, cultured, and then frozen as embryos.

※ Once embryo culture is complete, PGT-A testing (optional) can be performed upon request. Test results take about 10 business days.

※ NUWA will inform you of the culture results, the PGT-A fee, and a payment link. The testing fee can be paid by credit card.

Step 5: Embryo Transfer Preparation

Once frozen embryos are ready, the wife can plan the transfer according to her preferred menstrual cycle.

When the period for your intended transfer cycle begins, please contact NUWA via our Official LINE. (Menstrual cycle day 1 ➝ Notify us via LINE)

Start medication at your country of origin: Follow your NUWA doctor’s instructions. All medications will be provided for you to take home on your first visit. A medication timetable will be sent to you, and you may follow the medication timing as referred to the timetable.
Follow-ups: At your local clinic in your country of origin, undergo the tests specified by your NUWA doctor and send us the results. We will inform you of medication updates (if any), as well as the next test schedule and requirements.
※ Same-day report submission will be prioritized; please communicate this ahead with your local clinic/hospital.
Transfer date confirmation: After several follow-ups, the doctor will let you know when the best dates to do the frozen embryo transfer are. We will confirm the most suitable date based on your condition. Once we agree on a time, please book a flight to Taiwan 1 day before the transfer date.

Step 6: Embryo Transfer (Second Visit: Stay in Taiwan for 2-3 Days)

★ During the second visit, the following will be conducted:

Blood tests, the embryo transfer procedure, and post-transfer medication will be completed during this visit.

※ Embryo transfer will be conducted without anesthesia; the wife may come alone for the second visit.

※ Patients may fly back on the same day (in the afternoon/evening), but we recommend flying back the next day so the timing won’t be too tight and rushed.

Step 7: Follow Up and Pregnancy Check Up

After the embryo transfer, the patient may take the related next steps in their country of origin. Which include:

Medication: Continue taking your medications as instructed by your NUWA doctor. All medications will be provided on the transfer day. If pregnancy is confirmed, medications will continue until around the 10th week.
Follow-ups: At your local clinic, undergo the tests specified by your NUWA doctor and send us the results. We will update you regarding medication instructions (any changes) and provide the schedule and details of your next check-up.
Graduation: After 10 weeks of pregnancy, you will transition to regular prenatal care at your local OB-GYN clinic at your local clinic.
Birth Notification: Please inform NUWA of the basic information of the baby after delivery, as reporting the birth to the government is required.
