For many international couples, traveling abroad for IVF treatment is more than crossing borders—it is placing their hopes in a new medical team and a new opportunity.
This is the story of a couple from the Philippines. The wife was 33 years old, and the husband was 38. After four years of marriage, they had not been able to conceive.
Although the wife's Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) level was within the normal range and the husband's semen analysis showed normal results, they had already undergone three intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles and one IVF cycle in the Philippines. Unfortunately, none of the treatments resulted in a single transferable embryo, leaving them discouraged and searching for another solution.
A NUWA Seminar in the Philippines Started Their Journey to Taiwan
In March of the previous year, they learned online that NUWA would be hosting an international fertility seminar in the Philippines. They attended the event, met with our team in person, established their medical records, and later scheduled an online consultation.
During our first consultation, they brought a thick folder containing all of their previous treatment records, hoping we could identify why their earlier IVF attempts had failed.
Three questions they asked have stayed were:
- "What if we still can't create embryos after coming to Taiwan?"
- "We hope to have five children in the future. Will we be able to preserve enough embryos?"
- "It's difficult for us to take time off work. Can you design a treatment plan that minimizes our stay in Taiwan?"
These questions were about much more than IVF—they reflected their dream of building a family.
A Personalized IVF Plan Designed Around Their Schedule
Since the couple lived and worked full-time in the Philippines, we carefully designed an efficient treatment plan that would minimize travel while maximizing their chances of success.
Before treatment began, NUWA’s team personally guided them through NUWA's embryology laboratory. We introduced every step of the embryo culture process, explained our laboratory equipment and technologies, and answered their questions in detail. We hoped that by understanding each stage of treatment, they would feel more confident and less anxious.
Eight Eggs Retrieved, Eight Embryos Successfully Developed
On July 21, 2025, the couple arrived in Taiwan to begin ovarian stimulation.
The egg retrieval procedure was successful, yielding eight mature eggs. Even more encouraging, all eight eggs developed into embryos.
Egg retrieval was completed on August 1, followed by fertilization and embryo culture. On August 4, we performed a fresh embryo transfer using a high-quality Day 3 embryo before the couple returned to the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the remaining embryos continued developing into Day 5 blastocysts, preserving valuable opportunities for the large family they had always dreamed of having.
Their First Positive Pregnancy Test After Returning Home
After returning to the Philippines, they continued blood tests and ultrasound examinations through their local healthcare provider while our team remotely monitored their progress and coordinated follow-up care.
On August 18, their blood test confirmed a positive pregnancy with an encouraging hCG level.
After four years of infertility, three unsuccessful IUI cycles, and one failed IVF attempt, this was the first positive pregnancy test they had ever received.
Comprehensive International Fertility Care for Overseas Patients
For international patients, successful fertility treatment involves much more than the medical procedure itself. Careful coordination before, during, and after treatment is equally important.
NUWA provides comprehensive international fertility services, including online consultations, personalized treatment planning, travel scheduling, coordinated follow-up appointments, and remote monitoring after patients return home.
This integrated approach allows overseas couples to complete IVF treatment within a limited stay in Taiwan while minimizing unnecessary travel and making the entire process more convenient and efficient.
A Healthy Baby Boy Completed Their Four-Year Dream
In April 2026, Dr. Chen received wonderful news from the couple.
Their baby had been born safely—a healthy baby boy.
Their message read: "Dr. Chen, our baby has finally arrived! Thank you so much for everything you've done for us. The next time you visit the Philippines, please let us know. We'd love to meet you in person with our son and thank you properly."
Reading those words was deeply touching.
From four years of infertility, three failed IUI cycles, and an IVF cycle that produced no embryos, to traveling overseas for treatment and finally welcoming a healthy baby—their journey reminds us that hope can still become reality with the right medical care and perseverance.
Congratulations to this wonderful family on achieving their dream of becoming parents after years of waiting. We wish them a lifetime of happiness, good health, and joyful memories together.
If you are also struggling to conceive and are looking for comprehensive international fertility care, the NUWA team is here to support you throughout every step of your journey. We look forward to helping you welcome your own miracle.
